Yes often the simple explanation is that we are outraged, and I now write a lot more outraged posts than I used to because I'm so upset with Brexit. I do also think this outrage can be productive. It led to the In Limbo and In Limbo Too Project in my case, got me to march and write to my MP. It helped us write a letter for a Pakistani apostate, and thanks to this the Home Office will use better criteria to evaluate asylum claims relating to freedom of religion. But the general phenomenon of internet outrage does have something tribal about it, which I wanted to explore.
